There are numerous good reasons why we should eat, including
nutrition and maintaining a healthy diet. If you find yourself
eating for several unnecessary reasons, you may be engaged in
"emotional eating". If so, it is time to resolve the problem or
continue to pay the consequences. There are certainly ways that
you can halt this type of response for ones more appropriate to
the situation.
There are several characteristics that are consistent with
emotional eating. If you don't scrutinize these, it can lead to
continual weight gain and/or not maintaining a balanced and
healthy lifestyle. An emotional eater will often eat if they
feel angry, depressed or stressed out. Boredom is also a source
for overeating. These may be only the beginning processes of
eating food out of emotion.
There are also other factors beyond this that relate to
emotional eating. For example, one who eats from emotion will
frequently go straight for the fridge when they get home after a
day at work. It could be that it is difficult for the person to
openly talk about their emotions with others, so the food is
substituted for conversing.
The initial step to take if you think you might have an
emotional eating problem is to determine which emotions are
causing this problem. You can evaluate your behaviors and take
note of when you are eating. There are various different
characteristics that you can follow and monitor in order to
conclude whether or not you have a problem with emotional
eating. Generally, this can be ascertained by noting when you
eat and how much. If you eat despite the absence of hunger, eat
hastily when there's no rush, or eat instead of responding to a
stressful situation, you could very well have an emotional
eating problem.

when you are eating unnecessarily, move away from the food
areas. You can go into another area until you calm down to allow
your emotions to stabilize. You can also begin breaking bad
habits, such as eating when you get home from work. By

it will assist you in being able to stop eating from emotion.
Additionally, you can look into various sources that provide

emotional eating and begin to express your emotions in a more
healthy manner. Getting the proper type of help, once you have
